I made a list of all the reasons I want to loose weight. Such as go waterskiing, build sand castles with the kids, stuff that I would not normally do if I was held back my weight. I also post pictures of the Bahamas around the house and positive quotes like "Never compromise what you want most, for what you want at the moment."

I like that quote. It really makes you think.

My main motivator for wanting to lose my weight and for keeping it off is the sheer fact that I want to live a long and healthy life. I want to see my daughters grow up, and I have all intentions of being an energetic and full-of-life gram when the time comes. (Let's hope that's quite some time away, though. LOL.)

One tool that has been helping me to get moving is a site called Dailymile. I use it to record my walking and my running - more walking than running so far. The neat things about it is that when you record your time and miles covered, you can also briefly post how you feel about what you accomplished and received feedback, and on your own totals page you can see things like "how many tv's powered" or "how many donuts burned."

If any of you decide to give dailymile a try, look me up! :)

I'm 57 and I think I still do pretty good with keeping up with the grands. I think I have more time for them now that I am older. I think we kinda change what's really important as we age.

I think you're right. When we get older, we do change our thinking about what's really important. I remember my father telling me before I had my daughter (the 15-year old, my first child) that as soon as I saw that little baby, I would realize that everything I thought was important really wasn't and everything I didn't think was important really was important. He was right.

I think it is true as well..Even the way I think has changed. I am not the same person I was just a few years ago. I think it has alot to do with my weight loss. I find as my self esteem increases I can truely laugh at myself for being such a fool.

You are not a fool Bud, just a little foolish. Just teasing. I think we are more relaxed with what we say and do then what we used to be. I remember my daughter telling me one time that her father in law had never told her husband, (his son) that he loved him. Now that he is a preacher he says it to everyone as they are leaving the church, as he shakes their hand, but he still does not say it to his son. I tell all my kids and grand kids all the time I love them. I even tell my daughter in law that I love her. I tried to tell my son in law that I loved him, but it made him really uncomfortable. So I said really quickly, "I love you like a son in law". It made me uncomfortable to tell him that, so I quit. But, I still think that you should tell your family and loved one that you love them. And if someone does something that makes you happy, tell them! You never know what will happen tomorrow. You may not be here, or they may not.
